The United States have argued that the Canadian market for dairy products is not open enough.
And this was stalling the negotiation in the new USAMC agreement.
The United States produce a hormone vBST based milk that doesn't sit well with Canadians.
In fact seventeen percent (17%) of cows in the United States produce this hormone made milk, and it will probably make it way into the Canadian market.
I have asked through tweeting and through email to our Canadian parliamentary officials that in view of this fact, a request should be made to the USA to cancel its production of its hormone vBST milk and to let the Canadian milk farmer compensate that production of milk.
It would be better for them the Americans who would drink better milk, and it would be better for Canadian milk farmers .
The Canadian milk farmers would expand their production of milk, and grow as a result of this negotiation.
There has been no reply from either side.
