Confiscating bottles of Alcohol at Toronto Pearson International Airport

Writer: bluegreen77bluegreen77

Passengers landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport have been much scrutinized and their bottles of alcohol have been confiscated by Airport screening officers because of CATSA rules and regulations under the pretext of "Safety for passengers".

As a former screening officer I had to confiscate two bottles of red wine and two bottles of white wine from two ladies who were arriving from Israel and connecting to a flight to the United States.

Because of the second screening that is done at the Canadian airport, bottles of alcohol and all liquids more than 100 ml are taken away as per instructions from CATSA the supervisory body from the Federal government performing duties at Canadian airports.

Direct message to GTAA (Greater Toronto Airport Association)

The ultimate solution to the problem of confiscating BOTTLES OF ALCOHOL which have not been placed into CATSA Security Red Border seal bags is to direct the passengers DIRECTLY to their connecting flight, keeping them in the sterile area(meaning AFTER SECURITY SCREENING point) and to eliminate the SECOND SCREENING. If you don't eliminate the Second Screening, you can still direct the passenger to their connecting flight, knowing that their purchases of BOTTLES of ALCOHOL were made in the Sterile area of the airport they come from, and let the passengers keep them , IF SAFE, boarding their connecting flight. Note: the passengers will be kept in the Sterile Area of the airport all that time , before boarding their connecting flight.

Toronto Pearson International airport in association with CATSA supervising SECURITY SCREENING duties and work cannot continue to confiscate BOTTLES OF ALCOHOL from passengers coming from the Sterile Area (meaning AFTER Security Screening point) of other airports in the world. I have seen many discontent and frustrated passengers about having their BOTTLE of ALCOHOL being confiscated to the point of weeping because those bottles hold MEMORIES that could have been shared at the DINNER TABLE with FRIENDS. Something must be done; action must be taken: I have given you the solution. Toronto Pearson International Airport MUST modernize its facilities. The CATSA bag rule imposed on the airports of the world DOES NOT WORK. it has been DETRIMENTAL to the PASSENGERS.
